SECOND SATURDAYS IN GAHANNA

a can’t-miss makers market meets backyard block party

Held the second Saturday of June, July, and August, this festival series is by Gahanna, for Gahanna, with something for every member of our community. Now back for a third year, join us as we we gather together once again to engage the Arts and support local artisans. Shops and restaurants stay open late, local vendors line the streets, and each month a brand new creative surprise will wow you with something unlike anything else you’ve ever seen in the suburbs.

Important Update

Due to local restrictions on public events & additional safety concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19, all Second Saturday activities have been postponed until summer 2021.

with your support, Second Saturdays will return NEXT YEAR

Did you know Gahanna is home to one of Ohio’s most influential radio networks? Uplifting and Encouraging®, The River Radio gets to pour life-giving music into the community, and has been a big supporter of the Gahanna Arts Council from day one. Plus, they play content that’s safe for even the littlest ears in your family.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When is it?

Because of the current regulations regarding public gatherings given the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, Second Saturdays have been cancelled for the 2020 season. But they’ll be back in 2021, just as before, on the second Saturday of summer months (weather permitting).

Where is it?

The festival is held in the alley one block east of Mill Street. If you’re using your GPS, enter 116 Mill Street as your destination.

We suggest parking in the Creekside parking garage (at the corner of Mill St. and Walnut St.) or in the public parking lot next to the Gahanna Sanctuary (at the corner of High St. and Town St.), although additional street parking is available.

How do I enter? Do I need a ticket?

Not at all. In fact, there are no gates. We set up a welcome area on Mill Street, but you are welcome to enter the festival from all sides.

We use tools like Facebook and Eventbrite to help us plan and track attendance, but you can (and should!) come even if you didn’t register.

Should I bring my kids?

Sure! Second Saturday Arts in the Alley has something for everyone. There are activities for the whole family, so the kids have a great time (and grandma and grandpa have fun too).

But it’s not a kid-specific event. Second Saturday makes a great date night or an outing for a group of friends.

Should I bring my dog/bike/skateboard?

Probably not. We pack a lot into just a few city blocks, so for everyone’s safety and comfort, we ask you to leave these at home.

Even if your dog is good around people, not everyone is comfortable around your dog, and leashes are tripping hazards.

If you’d like to bike to the festival, that’s great! But please lock your bike up before you enter. There are racks on the Creekside Plaza (between Cold Stone Creamery and Nostalgia Brewing Company) and outside the Gahanna Sanctuary (at the corner of High Street and Mill Street).

Can I smoke?

For the sake of everyone’s safety and comfort, we ask that you refrain from smoking during the festival or cross the street for a smoke break.

Are there restrooms?

The festival is completely outdoors. There are three temporary restrooms available on-site, and a permanent public restroom across the street in the Creekside Plaza.

What if it's raining?

The festival is completely outdoors and will be held rain or shine.

In the event the weather makes conditions too unsafe for the event to proceed, we’ll make an announcement on our Facebook page).

What if I have more questions?

We’re happy to answer any and all other questions you have! Simply send an email to info@gahannaarts.org.

apply to be a vendor

If you’re a maker, performer, crafter, seller, or contributor, we want you to be a vendor. Whether you’re a pro who can show Gahanna how it’s done or a novice that’s never participated in a festival before, we’ve set up programs especially for you.
